This 1/4″ Rougher Bit cuts 1000 ipm (inches per minute) at 24,000 rpm! THESE BITS ARE DEVELOPED TO CUT MDF!!
If you’re fabricating with a CNC machine, these bits are the answer for rough cutting your sheets. This bits cuts 1000 inches per minute effortlessly at 24,000 rpm. Using this 1/4″ (rather than 3/8″) also saves a bit of material. We developed this bit for our own fabrication use and have been using them since 2005. It’s hard to estimate, but we know that we easily cut at least 50 sheets per bit.

Here at The Pinske Edge we use our 1/4″ “Rougher” bit to cut many things including MDF, plastic, phenolic, but mainly solid surface. The bit is a solid carbide, 3-fluted low helix angle router bit with chip breakers, or notches to break up chips for fast, clean and efficient removal of debris. This unique bit, designed by our fabrication team, allows us to cut 1000 IPM at 24000 RPM. The quality of the edge is not one we would recommend for gluing deck material together, but it is adquate for drop and stacked edges. When we cut or “rough” out countertops, we leave 1/16″ of material on all sides that get edge applied. Then we reintroduce our countertops on the CNC, using our line of profile insert bits to apply the desired profile.

This bit is amazing! I had my doubts that we could run it as fast as you said – but we did!
