What are the steps for a 4″ High Coved Backsplash?

June 10, 2016 Leave a Comment

  1.  Rout rabbet in the back (wall side) of solid surface countertop (1/8″ deep and 7/8″ wide).
  2. Cut Cove Stick  (15/16″ wide and 1/2″ thick).
  3. Cut Cove Splash (3-11/16″ wide and 1/2″ thick).  One side must be machined.
  4. Glue Cove Stick to the Cove Splash using Pinske Cove Jig (#91144N).
  5. Allow to dry until adhesive is cured.
  6. Take the glued piece and run it through the Cove Shaper (#91510)
  7.  Apply 1/2″ x 1/2″ Scribe Stick to the backside of the Backsplash piece.  Allow glue to cure.
  8. Clean off 1/16″ this cleans the glue off the Scribe (your height should now be 3-5/8″).
  9. Pre-sand the face of the Backsplash piece and the top edge of the Scribe.
  10. Glue the Cove Backsplash piece into the rabbet using Pinske Edge Adjustable Wood Clamps (#233) and J&L Clamps (#207).
  11. Remove excess glue and finish sand.
